Eyes in the Sky, Hope on the Ground!

Imagine this: a hurricane has just torn through a coastal town. Roads are blocked, power is out, and families are stranded. Emergency crews are ready to help — but they can’t see the full picture. Then, within minutes, a drone takes flight. From above, it maps the destruction, pinpoints survivors, and guides rescuers exactly where they’re needed most. That’s not science fiction. That’s what we do. And with your help, we can do it even better.

I’m proud to represent the Royal Lao Airborne, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to disaster relief and emergency management services.

We work side-by-side with local and state agencies, providing specialized training that prepares first responders for the worst days our communities can face. We also operate airborne missions — not just for our own unit, but for cadets from multiple colleges who are training to become the next generation of emergency leaders.

Recently, I was entrusted with building something new — something that will change the way we respond to disasters: our Drone School Program. This program will: Train our unit and partner agencies to deploy drones in real-time emergencies. Give cadets hands-on experience with cutting-edge aerial technology. Provide rapid mapping, search-and-rescue support, and damage assessment after disasters.

Drones are not just tools — they are force multipliers. They save time, they save resources, and most importantly, they save lives.

The Need – Why We’re Asking But here’s the truth: building a world-class drone training program takes resources. We need equipment — drones with thermal imaging, mapping software, and long-range capabilities. We need training materials and certified instructors. We need maintenance and safety gear to keep our operations reliable and secure. Every dollar you give will go directly toward training more pilots, deploying more drones, and reaching more people in need — faster than ever before.

When disaster strikes, minutes matter. Your donation could be the reason a missing child is found before nightfall. It could be the reason a stranded family gets rescued before floodwaters rise. I’m asking you today — not just to give money — but to become part of the mission. Whether it’s  25, 250, or $2,500, your contribution will put eyes in the sky and hope on the ground. Together, we can make sure that when the call comes, we are ready — trained, equipped, and able to respond without hesitation.

In disaster relief, we have a saying: “Hope is not a plan — but with the right tools, we can make hope a reality.” Let’s build that reality together. Thank you.
